Renaissance Photography prize 2010

A fantastic evening

The Hospital Private Member’s Club in Covent Garden was the stunning venue for our third annual Renaissance Photography Prize gala party, which took place on Wednesday 21 April.

The evening, sponsored by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, was a huge success raising over £40,000 for the Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care.

The winning photographic entries were selected by an expert panel of judges including Michael Hoppen (gallery owner), Charlie Waite (landscape photographer) and Brigitte Lardinois (Magnum photographer).

Our congratulations go out to Karin Rosenthal who’s image ‘Funny Feet’ was chosen to receive the coveted Renaissance Prize 2010.

Just under 300 guests attended a party to view the stunning exhibition and buy prints, while also enjoying the champagne and canapés on offer. With a twist to this year’s party, the winners and short-listed images were announced in an ‘Oscar’s style’ ceremony hosted by celebrity supporters Dawn Porter, Nicky Hambleton-Jones, Kathy Lette and our new charity ambassador Amanda Mealing.

The competition continues to grow with over 3,700 images entered into the competition from 78 countries around the world. The competition was the brainchild of Fiona Gifford, a lawyer and keen amateur photographer from London who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34.

Pink Buddies Ball

Friday 15 October, London

The Pink Buddies, a group of former breast cancer patients at the London Bridge Hospital are organising their annual ball in aid of The Lavender Trust this year.

Hosted at the Grand Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden the evening will start at 7pm. Join them for a three-course dinner, live entertainment and a disco. There will also be the opportunity to win exciting prizes in a raffle and auction.

The Breast Cancer Care Mile

On Friday 9 July at Chester Racecourse, we are delighted to be the beneficiary charity of the world’s first pink horse race for female jockeys. Every rider in the Breast Cancer Care Pink Mile will be dressed in pink silks and all the horses will be mares or fillies.

Some of the country’s top professional female jockeys will take part in the race competing against several of the best amateur lady riders and it promises to be a spectacular evening.
