About On Leadership Gala dinner 2008
The 2008 inaugural On Leadership Gala dinner was a sell out success. Top business men and women met together at the London Park Lane Intercontinental at what Jon Snow described as the ‘best pre-Christmas networking party in town’.
Guests were treated to a champagne reception, and an impromptu speech from ‘journalistic royalty’ Robert Peston on the state of the economy, before enjoying a sumptuous three course meal. The real highlight of the evening though was when the speakers – Allan Leighton, Sir Stuart Rose (of M&S fame) and Val Gooding (former CEO of Bupa) took to the stage to be questioned by Jon Snow on issues facing business and the secrets of their success.
Recently bankrupt Woolworths was a talking point, as were women in business, essential leadership qualities, and corporate social responsibility. The floor was then opened to guests to pose their own questions to the panel, and included comments from Martha Lane Fox (Lastminute.com and Lucky Voice, and who has subsequently agreed to speak this year), Adam Crozier (CEO of Royal Mail), Gail Rebuck (CEO and Chairman of Random House publishing) and Surinder Arora (owner and Chairman of Arora International Hotels).
