The importance of Gift Aid
For every £1 you give to Breast Cancer Care, we get an extra 25p in Gift Aid and 3p in Transitional Relief. Please get your sponsors to fill in their full home address details on your sponsorship form and tick the box for Gift Aid. It’s that simple!
To qualify for Gift Aid, the amount you pay in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax must at least equal the amount we claim in the same tax year (25p in every £1).
Fundraising made easy using Justgiving
Now you can raise sponsorship without all the hassle. No more dealing with cash and cheques, no more chasing friends after the event.
Simply create a free, online fundraising page, personalise it with a photo and message, and email it to your friends, family and work colleagues. They can donate quickly and securely online with a credit or debit card.
Online donations from UK taxpayers are worth almost a third more to us with Gift Aid, which can be claimed on Justgiving donations.
Create your page now at:
www.justgiving.com/breastcancercare/raisemoney
.
- Click on ‘Make your page’.
- Register.
- Click on your chosen 2010 Pink Ribbonwalk location.
- Follow the step by step instructions set out by Justgiving.
- Please ensure you sign up to Justgiving using the same postal address as you registered when signing up for the Pink Ribbonwalk.
- If you are setting up a page for someone else, please enter their details in the ‘your details’ section, not your own (without the correct details we are unable to ensure the money is attributed to the correct person).
For more information or help setting up your page, visit www.justgiving.com or call the Justgiving helpdesk on 0845 021 2110.
Please note: Justgiving money will only be attributed to the person who set up the Justgiving page. Therefore if you are fundraising as part of a group you must register your group on the Pink Ribbonwalk website and invite your friends to join it so the money will be split evenly between you.
If you want to use an online donation website other than Justgiving please speak to us first and we will be able to advise you.
Ways to publicise your event
If you do host a fundraising event, be sure to spread the word in advance.
-
Posters
To raise awareness of your challenge or promote your fundraising event, you may wish to create some publicity. Posters are a simple and easy way to get attention. -
Get in the press
Contacting your local press is a great way to get publicity for your challenge and also for the work that Breast Cancer Care does. Appearing in a local paper or on your local radio station can also help you maximise the number of people who support you or attend your fundraising event. Email us for a press release template, to help get you started.

What is GiftAid?
Increase the value of your donation by nearly a third!
