J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race

We are delighted to announce that Breast Cancer Care has again been chosen as one of the official charities for the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, the country’s largest and most famous yacht race. The event, which started in 1931, takes place at Cowes on the Isle of Wight and the 55 mile course is tackled by around 18,000 sailing enthusiasts every year.
The race offers the weekend sailor the opportunity to race against World and Olympic champions and professional yachtsmen and women such as Ellen Macarthur. It’s the third largest mass participation event after the Virgin London Marathon and Bupa Great North Run.
SailTime Challenge
As one of the four official charities we have the unique opportunity to take part in the SailTime charity challenge, which is a race against charity boats within the main race.
In 2009, our crew of sailors had all been affected by breast cancer in different ways, including our celebrity ambassador Jonathan Ansell. The team had a tremendous race, to hear and see the inspiring stories from the day take a look below:

Be a crew member on the ‘SailTime Charity Challenge’ Breast Cancer Care boat in 2010!
SailTime is sponsoring the charity challenge race in 2010. We are looking for five crew members to take part in the charity cup challenge. If you have been affected by breast cancer, and would like to be a part of the most exciting sailing race in the world please download the application form and return it to sporting@breastcancercare.org.uk.
Remember you don’t need to have sailing experience but will get the opportunity to compete against some of the county’s top sailors. Please note, that we are asking crew members to raise a minimum of £750 in sponsorship.
How to enter the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race
Visit the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race website www.roundtheisland.org.uk to enter a boat in the race.
If you would like to make your entry count and raise money for Breast Cancer Care please create your online sponsorship page via the round the island website and choose us as your preferred charity.
Once you have done this, please contact us on 0845 092 0804 or email us at sporting@breastcancercare.org.uk for a fundraising support pack.
Fundraising
By joining our team and choosing to support Breast Cancer Care we do ask that you pledge to raise money for the charity. There is no minimum amount, we just ask that you raise as much as possible. In order to help you we will send you a pack full of tips and sponsorship forms and will be on hand to offer advice and answer any of your queries.
How we will support you
In return for pledging to raise money for us we support you by providing you with:
- a support pack full of fundraising advice
- fundraising support and advice from a dedicated member of the Sporting Events team
- fundraising materials to help you including balloons, posters and collection tins
- Breast Cancer Care will be there in the Regatta Village, across the weekend, supporting our boats and fundraisers.
