New York Marathon

Always fancied a trip to the Big Apple? This is your chance to see the sights and take part in the ING New York City Marathon.
The marathon is renowned as one of the biggest and best in the world, partly for its amazing route, which weaves through the famous boroughs of Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan.
It promises to be an incredible experience and New York really gets into the marathon spirit with good luck banners adorning shop windows, bars and restaurants.
Fundraising
Breast Cancer Care has fantastic packages available for the ING New York Marathon via 2:09 Events and Sports Tours International. As a valued member of Team Breast Cancer Care you will receive our full support from the moment you sign up. As a runner on our team you will need to pay for the cost of your package yourself but we will support you in raising as much money as you can for Breast Cancer Care. There is no minimum target to reach, however in order to support you as much as possible we will refund some/all of your costs.
Refund Package
- Level 1- Raise £1,750 and we will refund up to £500 of your travel package costs.*
- Level 2- Raise £2,500 and we will refund up to £1,000 of your travel package costs.*
- Level 3- Raise £3,000 and we will refund up to £1,289 (based on a twin-share at the Westin Hotel (2:09 package) costing £1,239 including race entry. We will refund against other hotels and packages but only up to £1,289).*
- Level 4 - Raise £4000 and we will refund up to £1,589 (based on a twin-share at the Crown Plaza Hotel (2:09 package) costing £1,589 including race entry. We will refund against other hotels and packages but only up to £1,589*).
All sponsorship must be sent in by three months after the event (1 February 2010). Refunds will only be available after the team fundraising deadline on 1 February 2010 and we will require proof of your expenditure in the form of an invoice from the tour operator, hotel or airline. We will not refund more than three nights’ accommodation.
How we will support you
In addition, in return for pledging to raise money for us we will support you by providing you with:
- A state of the art running vest
- A support pack full of fundraising & training advice
- Breast Cancer Care cheering squad in New York to cheer you round the course
- Post-race celebratory reception in New York
- Support and advice from a dedicated member of the sports team
- Regular newsletters and emails to keep you updated
- Fundraising materials to help you including balloons, posters and collection tins.
How to enter
To secure your place simply fill in the downloadable application form on this page and return to 2:09 Events, an official International Travel Partner for the New York Marathon. You can contact them on 0870 3500 209, or download additional application forms from www.209events.com (we recommend staying at the Crown Plaza Hotel, just off Times Square or the Westin Hotel where you will have the opportunity to meet your fellow Breast Cancer Care team mates).
Alternatively should you wish to buy your package through another tour company we would recommend Sports Tours International. Visit their website at www.sportstoursinternational.co.uk. You can also contact them on 0870 350 1106 or download an application form from their website. If you choose to organise your package through Sports Tours International, we will support you in exactly the same way and offer you the same refund package based on the same fundraising targets as above.
