Paris Marathon
11 April 2010
Entry into the Paris Marathon is now open!
Join Team Breast Cancer Care for Paris in the springtime! This really is a marathon not to be missed. Soak up the culture, history and beauty which make Paris arguably the most romantic city in the world.
You will have time to relax and take in the sights but don’t worry if you miss a few because the marathon provides a sight-seeing extravaganza. Run the Paris Marathon while taking in the splendour of sights including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Arc de Triomphe.
From its start on the chic Champs Elysees to the finish line on the famous tree-lined Avenue Foch. The race will take you round the Place de Concorde, past the stunning Louvre, through the historic la Bastille, and along the beautiful river Seine.
The race attracts more than 35,000 runners each year, equaling London in size. Breast Cancer Care has places in the 2010 Paris Marathon and would love to have you on the team!

Fundraising
As a runner on our team you will need to pay for the cost of your package yourself but we will support you in raising as much money as you can for Breast Cancer Care. There is no minimum target to reach, however in order to support you as much as possible we will refund some/all of your costs.
Breast Cancer Care’s recommended package with 2:09 Events comprises of the following:
- Guaranteed race entry into the Paris Marathon 2010
- Return Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord. You will be met by staff of 2:09 events and escorted on the metro (tickets not included) to your chosen hotel
- Two nights stay at either the 3-star Hotel Concorde La Fayette or the 4-star Hotel Rochester Champs-Elysees. Please note, three night stays are available but Breast Cancer Care will only refund for 2 nights based on a twin share basis
- Training advice from Runner’s World and London Marathon winner Mike Gratton from the moment you sign up
- Staff of 209 Events in the hotel in Paris to answer all of your last-minute questions.
Refund Package
Raise £1,500 and we will refund up to £339 of your travel package costs plus your race entry cost which could vary from £52-£112. The total amount can not exceed £451.
We have based this amount on a twin share rate for two nights in the 3-star Hotel Concorde La Fayette. The race entry cost varies dependent on the time of sign up. You are welcome to choose your own package and alternative hotels, upgrading should you wish but please note Breast Cancer Care will only refund up to the value of two nights on a twin share basis. So, for example should you wish to stay in the 4-star Hotel Rochester Champs-Elysees you will need to pay the difference. Please note, we will not pay for first class Eurostar even if your refund claim is less than £339.
All sponsorship must be sent in by 3 months after the event (2 July 2010).
Refunds will only be available after the team fundraising deadline on 2 July 2010, and we will require proof of your expenditure in the form of an invoice from the tour operator, hotel, airline or train journey. We will not refund more than two nights accommodation.
