Madame Tussauds Ball
Why not organise a glitzy ball like the committee of friends who worked tirelessly to create a spectacular evening at Madame Tussauds last October.
Guests were welcomed with a glass of bubbly in a Champagne reception and given the opportunity to mingle with the likes of Tom Cruise and Angelina Joli! Dinner was followed by an exciting Live and Silent auction, a raffle and finished with a medley of live entertainment. Top prizes on the night included an exclusive opportunity to join the audience of Top Gear, a signed Tottenham football shirt and a luxury holiday in the South of France.
This glamorous evening was organised by a committee of seven friends; Martina, Pia, Vicki, Anouska, Jenny, Lindsey and Kat, all of whom contributed enthusiasm and commitment to put on this spectacular event. Their principal aim was to raise money for Breast Cancer Care and hang out with the stars:
“We really wanted to create a wonderful, memorable evening and for some, give them the chance to remember someone special.”
The ball was an outstanding success and raised over £15,000 for Breast Cancer Care. A big thank you to the committee and all their guests.
Dirty Dancing
Valentine’s was a special day for Breast Cancer Care as we were delighted to benefit from a Charity Gala Performance of the classic story, Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre in London.
Dirty Dancing UK Limited organised the performance of this sell out show and raised over £26,000 for the charity.
The evening was hosted by celebrity, Jane Middlemiss and guests were automatically entered into an exclusive competition to win a backstage tour and ‘Dirty Dancing’ dance lesson!
With the production fully booked, the performance was hot gossip and was covered in The Metro and The Independent. Photographers also attended a photocall of four members of the Dirty Dancing cast which was eagerly snapped up by the press.
The event was hugely successful for both parties. Dirty Dancing UK Limited was happy to be associated with one of the UK’s leading breast cancer charities and increase awareness of the Dirty Dancing show and brand. Breast Cancer Care benefitted from the fantastic money raised and being associated with one of the West End’s top shows.
The Mac Ball 2007
Breast Cancer Care were delighted to benefit from the third Mac Ball on 6 October 2007 at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel. After a drinks reception guests sat down to a four course dinner followed by a sensational ceilidh and live band. It was a fun evening with exciting raffles, auctions and human tombola.
The ball raised over £21,000 which has helped to make 3,917 breast cancer resource packs possible; One for every person who will be newly diagnosed with the disease in Scotland this year.
The unique pack can help patients make informed choices about their treatment at a difficult time, record information, ask key questions and keep a personal log of their treatment progress.
Organisers of The Mac Ball, Claire McGonagle & Justine Griffin said:
“The Mac Ball was set up to help charities close to our hearts and we are delighted the £21,943 we raised this year will fund Breast Cancer Care’s new resource packs. We are so happy the money raised will help nearly 5,000 patients and their families. We could not have done this without the help of our fantastic supporters.”
Lorraine Dallas, Assistant Director of Breast Cancer Care Services for Scotland added:
“We greatly value the support of The Mac Ball in funding these packs in Scotland. This will enable Breast Cancer Care to roll out this excellent new programme nationally, after several successful pilot schemes. These packs, to be distributed at initial diagnosis, will be a vital support to people receiving this diagnosis, as they give extensive information on treatment plans, surgery and the side effects of chemotherapy.”
